Geographical Distribution: Coffee plantations are mainly located in a belt around the equator, often referred to as the "coffee belt". Here, the tropical climate, with abundant rainfall and altitudes between 600 and 1,200 metres above sea level, ideal conditions for coffee plants. Countries in Latin America such as Brazil and Colombia, African countries such as Ethiopia and Kenya, and Asian countries such as Vietnam and Indonesia are prominent in coffee cultivation. Each region, and sometimes even each individual farm, can produce beans with unique flavour profiles due to local conditions and the cultivation methods used. This diversity is one of the reasons why the world of coffee is so rich and varied. Origin: Coffee beans come from the coffee plant, and two of the most commercially grown varieties are Arabica and Robusta. Arabica beans are usually more sought after due to their milder, more complex flavours, while Robusta is known for its stronger, more bitter taste and higher caffeine content. Roasting: The roasting process transforms the green coffee beans into the aromatic brown beans we associate with a delicious cup of coffee. The degree of roasting, from light to dark, significantly affects the flavour and aromas. Lightly roasted beans retain more of the original bean-specific character, while darkly roasted beans develop stronger, more roasted tones.

Storage: Coffee beans should be stored in a cool, dark place, preferably in an airtight container. Oxidation, light and heat can impair the quality and flavour of the beans. For the best possible taste experience, coffee should be ground just before brewing.

Varieties: There are hundreds of different varieties of coffee beans, each with its own unique flavour profile. Some of these varieties are named after their region of origin, such as Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, while others may be known for specific attributes such as their acidity, body or aroma.
